I started ,in 1973,with the Town of Verona,Ms. as a Police Officer.

In 1975 I started with the Fire Department

Rickey Gurley (A) Andy Mercer (B) Jim Grissom (C)

Bobby Williams was Chief and James Robbins was Mayor.

I left Verona and moved to Okolona,Ms and started workinng as a Firefighter and part time dispatcher.

I left Okolona and moved to Orlando,Fla. starting with Reedy Creek Improvement District as a Firefighter and then as a Paramedic.

I left Reedy Creek and went with Orlando working out of the Ocoee station.

I left Florida and moved back to Tupelo and started back with Verona and then left Verona for the City of Tupelo.

Verona was paying 400.00/month and Tupelo was paying 450.00/month.

My No. 1 goal in life was working for Tupelo.

In 1981 I passed the entrance exam for the Memphis Fire Service but Tupelo called,to hire me,so I accepted working for Tupelo.

Jimmy Caldwell was Mayor at this time,a lot of Mayor's have come and gone since then.

A decision I have not regretted!

My only ambition,in life,was to be a FIREFIGHTER and if I died today I would go to heaven a very very happy person.

Most people work at a job,they hate,I am the only person that I know of that got his heaven before he died.

I have been blessed more than I deserve by being a Firefighter and with the City of Tupelo,Ms.
